In St Andrews zijn er clubs (Societies / Socs) voor elke denkbare doelgroep. Voor filmliefhebbers is er daarom de FIlmSoc. Omdat studenten (en promovendi) graag geld besparen, is het wel zo handig om de film te beamen in een grote collegezaal. En in het donker is het verschil met een normale bioscoopzaal toch niet te zien!
